noticed that the coolant is slowly disappearing - there are no noticible leaks in the cooling system.
then i noticed when checking the engine (G16B, '93 Vit stationwagon, 170K on engine) oil that there was milky condensation on the upper part of the dipstick (where it it sits inside dipstick houseing)
havn't done any water crossings for the last 15K kms.
otherwise the engine is running fine......
why is this so........?

HELP: Possible coolant in the oil of my sump?
Hmm, "water disappearing" is not a good sign, Is there milky oil on the filler cap.
Make sure you don't have a water leak somewhere that could account for the water loss before doing anything.
One check you could do is to warm the engine up with the radiator cap off, or carefully remove it when hot, once hot (thermostat open) check for air bubbles, these could indicate a blown head gasket.
If you have any of the above symptoms, pull the head of first and check for gasket blown between a water/oil gallery or water gallery/cylinder. If the head gasket is OK, then it may be as bazooked suggested.
I will be pulling my 92 G16B engine down in 2 weeks time due to bad piston slap, only 145K, bugger!!!
