HILUX LIFT

Post by TinyGQ »

Hi there i was hoping to get other peoples opinions on what i should do with my hilux. At the moment its just sitting in the carport as a "project", it was a trade in when i sold my GQ.

As it arrived, it has 35" MTRs, 4" body lift (on top of original spacers) 253 V8, all these flashy crome bits that will end up breaking off lol everything else standard, no rear tray and a fair bit of work to do, its pretty rough.

First thing i wanna do is get it registered, and spend as least money as i can, (i have learnt from the GQ!!) as this will primarily be a fun car or back up, im not going in comps or anything so it doesnt need to be super extreme but i do want it lifted, more for wank value lol

so once i have it registered i wanna know what people think i should do with it, keeping a homeless mans budget in mind, my initial thoughts are just to keep the 4" body lift so i can still run the 35's get a steering arm extention and just use it like that untill i find some cheap stuff on here like shackles or springs/shocks. In the end i want it to have about 5-6" lift spring/body/shackle, a front locker and some tube work

I guess what im asking is what are other people opinions on keeping the 4" lift in temporarily untill i see some cheaper suspension gear to lift it? Or do people think i should leave it in permanently?

any advice would be great as im pretty clueless with the leaf spring setup!!
cheers

i dont know about every body else but i think a 4" body lift is way to big for a hilux, if u still wonna add some spring and shackle lift u will be calling it the rollux  , i would stick with the body lift untill u can find some cheap shocks and leafs then chop the body lift into a 2" or 3" with a 3" susp and 2-3" body u will still fit the 35s AOK

id drop the body lift out, move the front diff foward leave the 35s on and cut the guards and firewall so the 35s fit, maybee put some stock rear springs in the front and some ifs rears in the back.
Keep it as low as possible

cheers for ya input, not a bad suggestion but i do still want some lift. Rear springs in front is a good idea, i didnt even know you could do that? One question though, if you reccomnd leaving it low why do you have a spring and body lift in your truck?

my truck came with the body lift in and now my shock hoops etc are built around it, i do plan on pulling the lift out as i think my rig is way to tall. i put the new lift in etc and then found the truck is to tall and unstable, i would like to get 2 - 3" lower
