looking at the pump, i dont believe they do have a different hot/cold idle setting. The only 2 temp sensors on the motor, as far as I can recall, are the temp gauge sender, and the temp sensor for the glow system (or at least i thought there was).
What symptoms are you having?

mine always idled lower when it was cold....i just used to pull the throttle control out a little when it was cold to bring the idle speed up to normal until it had been running a couple of minutes... never any dramas.

I had been doing the same, then I just adjusted the idle speed fullstop. Im still very curious as to whether the inj. pump has a setting. A diapragm perhaps.carts wrote:mine always idled lower when it was cold....i just used to pull the throttle control out a little when it was cold to bring the idle speed up to normal until it had been running a couple of minutes... never any dramas.

Sounds exactly like mine, but mine rarely, very rarely cuts out due to lack of pressure.vanzbrown wrote:Mine does this too... I have never thought anything more of it... Set at about 750rpm on warm idle... Doesnt even reach 500 at 5am these days... Its fine once it warms up... I just need to use the acellarator to get the revs up otherwise it will cut out due to lack of oil pressure...

If they run for ten seconds with out oil pressure they do cut out. So if it runs real slow it wont pickup oil pressure in ten seconds sometimes if it's real cold. Otherwise consider an oil change oil check for a problem.
There is no cold idle setting. What they have is a cold start function on the EDIC motor which pulls it to full rich on start up to aid with cold starts. This only works when crankning. If you ever suffer from "black smoke syndrome", where by intermittently your 60 blows ludicrous amounts of black smoke, the EDIC is prbably stuck in the start position when driving.
Cheers

my 13bt use to do the same but doesn't anymore and mine idles fine when hot and you stop at the next set off lights and its done to 500 i use the hand throttle but when it goes again it to highsambo wrote:I know that the 12ht has the high idle when its cold, and then when it warms up it will drop back down to normal.

The australian 2H does not have a cold idle setting....

2h don't have one that I can see.
It should idle at 650 when warm
there is an idle up for air con though(to around 900 warm), and i think theres a power steering one or something on auto's (not that there are many of those around here)
mine idles crap when cold around 500 according to the dash tacho (not the most accurate). It shakes the shit out of the cruiser though. never dies from lack of oil pressure.
if your 2h idles so slow when cold that it cuts out due to oil pressure, then it probably has a glow plug problem, or the idle (when warm) is too low

Oil is thicker when cold. Usually a cold motor will have higher oil pressure than a hot motor. Are you not gettin oil pressure when you start the motor from cold start. It might be a lubrication system problem or the wrong oil.

Idle speed is adjusted at the inlet manifold. It should be done at normal operating temp, areound 650-750rpm. Cold idle speed is sorted out via hand throttle. There are no settings on the pump which can be adjusted to alter this as it is a vaccuum controlled governor set up. If idle speed is too high you have a hole in the diaphragm in the back of the pump.
Hope this helps.
