Precision Gears

Post by Red Rover »

I have a lot of searching on a number of forums. Strangely enough in the state they say they have very little issues with the precision gears, particularly talking about 80 series here, however in oz most say they are weak as? Somethings not adding up? Everyone wants to re-gear, including me to 4.3 or 4.5gears but whats the options. Precision say they do all nascar stuff and a lot of the blokes use them in there rigs with 35+ tyres and real real problems.

Two options I see is

1. re gear with precision gears

2. change to gq modded diffs

I'd be keen on what people thought

Have used the precisinon brand in the surf 5.7 lasted 18mths with dual cases and 36 iroks before the front let go so they lasted fairly well.

Had done a lot of research and the PG seem to be the best.

For the front if you have a part time kit give bobby a call at longfields and get him to gryo and treat a reverse pinion for you he uses yukon brand but they seem to be holding well to the guys in the US that are using them.

You dont want the treated cryos for the rear but he will treat the rear for you to make them a little less prone to cracking the teeth shoot him an email he is a top bloke tell him what its for .
