Well I went to replace the coolant on the Patrol tonight and did the usual stuff like disconnect radiator and heater hoses ans ran water through everything so that the old coolant was not longer in there etc....
reconnected everything up with a couple new radiator hoses just to be safe. Went to add in my five litres of Castrol anti-free anti-boil to get a nice 33% content and here is where I struck trouble.
i could only get about 3lt's in..........Started the beast up and bleed the system but still could not get more than 3lt's in......
obviously I did something wrong and as I am going to the snow on the weekend I want to ensure that I have the right mix ratio.
I am going to drop the radiator again tomorrow and this will loose some of the coolant and water and will then try and put another 3lt's or so of coolant into it again to get the right mix.....
How should I have done it so that I got the entire 5 lt's of coolant in, in one go.....it does have a 15lt cooling system after all...

How to get right amount of coolant in GQ TD42?
Sorry to dig out an old thread but would this be the same for the TB42?
I too have experienced the same thing, I bought 3 x 5L pre mix and I could only pour in just 1 and a half bottles only. Rechecked the manual and it did say its a 14L of coolant.
Please advise me before I start undoing 12mm bolts which MIGHT be this drain plug.

I'm not sure if the TB42 block is the same as the TD42, but at the back righthand corner of the block (as you face it from the front) right down underneath the cyl no 6 part of the exhaust manifold. Look for a small threaded plug screwed into the side of the block. The plug takes a 12mm socket. On a TD42, its located right near the oil regulator valve.. Be prepared for lots of coolant to flood out!!
