single link trac bar
with single link trac bars, should i put a cross member in at the front spring hanger? if i run it to the factory cross member i think it'll do wierd things to the diff on drp away.
what are your thoughts?
cheers joel

I tried running a single link Track bar years ago and it actually induced axle wrap and kinked the rear springs. It induces Axle wrap because the point at the axle gives the axle something to rotate around if you understand? Although i know others that have ran these successfully. Maybe my springs were just to soft. After going to a triangulated track bar i had no problems.
Not if you talk to shara while he isn`t aroundSTUMPY wrote: i know that ben aka hypo has had success with his bar.

I haven`t seen a single link bar fully delete axle wrap.

its not really a single link as there are two mounts on the axle
ive seen macquarie use a rover arm on a few vehicles
real tidy, works well, if you have the room for a new cross member and your suspension isn't jacked sky high
Single link didn't work for me. it only gave the diff something to rotate around. it did improve axle wrap but not enough. all post pics tonight of my srings on full compression, its not good.diesel028 wrote:So whats the verdict Joel, have you got ur trac bar sorted yet? Im thinking of doing single link also, just wondering what everyone else has done.

Note how much the spring is compressing at the front compared to the rear.
There is now way you can use the spring as a link. Springs bend. If your springs are stiff enough to use them to complete the triangulation then you don't need a track bar.

yea agreed im not saying that single link is an ideal setup however what I am saying is that a trackbar to the bottom of a diff (not practical anyhow) would have an affect of some percentage in reducing axle wrap unlike a track bar to the top that will do nothing if it does not make the problem worse.STUMPY wrote:Note how much the spring is compressing at the front compared to the rear.

have you tried taking the rap bar off and checking out ur springs?STUMPY wrote:Single link didn't work for me. it only gave the diff something to rotate around. it did improve axle wrap but not enough. all post pics tonight of my srings on full compression, its not good.diesel028 wrote:So whats the verdict Joel, have you got ur trac bar sorted yet? When i used to run leaves in the back of the Runner they looked exactly like that on full stuff, & i used to run a triangulated ladder bar on mine.
The spring will allways have more bend in the front half as it is shorter than the back, it is also mounted lower on the frame rail so its being pushed down further to.
