HJ75 series
Have been scouring the net for cheapish start vehicle.
I have seen a couple of 75's for around the 6-8g mark but I also notice not many round here mod them.
Not being overly familiar with them besides they are the farmers very favorite. What are the difficulties people in the know here see with using one as a base for a leaf rig.
Remember leaves stay. But doesn't preclude modding them. It wouldn't be a load carrier.

Wheel track is narrow relative to their height. Spring under axle. Both should be easy fixes though. Would imagine that they would be quite strong?

any mods u wanna do matt can do it
Thing is I still have a few months before I have my fun coupons. Looking a everthing. I sorta keep drifting back to Hilux. I think I could not get a GQ UTE for the same money.
I am tending towards ute as I will have a better wheel base than a shorty Nissan and Toyota. Lux engine conversions seem pretty easy (relatively) as well if you go with say a higher speced toy 4 outta supra or something.
The other 38' and axle thread has sorted me with axle strength.
I also realy like CBR's 4runner looks pretty good. So a leaf 4runner may be the go as well but then once again arse end over hang.

High mount winch.
Bla Bla Bla
Yeah kinda thinkin that sort of thing but minus the 39's (yet) 35-37 depending what I got away with on the street.
If you did a SPOA what or would there need to be any mods to the spring packs they just appear to me to be very much set up for big loads thats all.
For the gearbox and 4.2 donk you would get how much? say I don't know 250,000kms on it.

I`m not up to speed with cruiser parts but I`d say
$2000 to $3000 for motor
around $800 to $1000 for 5 speed.
Spring packs would have the be pulled apart and remade with less thinner (7mm) leaves as to make it flex. But thats something you`d have to play with over time and with different setups untill you found one that worked. If you did this yourself with just old packs of other rigs it would cost fark all.

Yeah but if I did it would look like a panel van that the doors have fell off. Grindin I can do but the sticky taping it back together might be beyond me.
mmmmm Hey it is only a toy and I am bound to roll it anyway and they do look pretty cool.

All the pig hunters aound here use them, and they get driven HARD, harder than any other group of people punish their trucks I would imagine.. They spend a lot of time in the air, they jump out of them while they are moving and they coast along into trees and stuff... other assorted stupidity.. they seem to hang together pretty well..
They also all run turbos set to buckets of boost and nothing seems to ever go bang..

Yeah thats another good point about the 4.2 not many people talk about gettting more mumbo out of them. Lots talk about the Nissan. To my mind have driven the ones at work they feel like a stronger motor stock (but that could be gearing) what I mean is low end they pull harder.
I mean for 6-8k(some are about) you get a strong truck may have a tired motor but that is the risk you take and I nearly forgot about the 75 in TTC even though it wasn't top of the pops it was driven as hard as any other vehicle there and sounded like plenty of work done on the donk.

Everyone South of the Lake drives like that. I usually wear a helmet when I drive down to your place. I take it off before I pull into your driveway so you don't think I'm a woosie.

the more I think about this the funnier it is!
Dude in flanno steps out of his cruiser outside the Hyperdome and lets it roll along into some truant scholkids!

people building hardcore rigs can only stretch thier ring so far, and normally whatever they find dirt cheap with the right diffs is the base for a project.
Yeah your right Dirt Cheap is the thing. My Dirt cheap is still too cheap for the dirt cheapers though.
5-8k for truck
Gears 1500
Lockers 3200 unless I go on the hunt for 2nd hand (rare to see com up)
Rims 600
Winch HM 2000+ depending on what I can get 2nd hand
Spares 1000 (depending on what I carry)
Tyres 4-800 a pop dending on brand and size. 3200
Longs or equivalent (depending on availability and Tyre size) price? 1000?
Mucking around with it and simple/functional Bar work chopping and stuff $2000
Bingo 20000+ truck
How about some opinion on basic essentials that one make it reliable and two make it ready enough to compete to a moderate level.
We have the Silver Bullet as an example but I am not too sure what went under it if anythong to improve its ability besides the nut behind the wheel.

should be able to get it a bit cheaper:
5-8k for truck
Gears 1500 - these are getting cheaper - say 1200 if you can install yourself
Lockers 3200 unless I go on the hunt for 2nd hand (rare to see com up) - welded/lockrite rear/ airlocker front - say 2000
Rims - 600 5/ 15x8 steel - 250
Winch HM 2000+ depending on what I can get 2nd hand - $1000 2nd hand low mount (how much do you really want to winch?)
Spares 1000 (depending on what I carry) I carry nothing most times
Tyres 4-800 a pop dending on brand and size. 3200 if 37 is big enough these are easy under 400 nowadays
Longs or equivalent (depending on availability and Tyre size) price? 1000?
