80 series 4" lift with vibration
I just fitted some 4" coils with caster plate's and a part time kit and now it has a vibration when you drive in 2WD it feels like its right under your feet but its not allways there only when you cruising and you can make it go away when you tap the accelerator (spelling?). I got under and had a look and the tie rod looks really close to the front arms has any body ever come across this tipe of thing before?
Any help?

My 80 did this when I added the 4 inch coils to the front and put the sway bar back on. It mainly happened when taking sweeping bends and I put it down to the limited down travel I had with the sway bar so have removed it (swaybar)and have not had the same drama since.

I don't have a rear sway bar and I have front sway bar extontion's about 3 1/2" so I dont think its coming from the sway bars but thanks anyway.

I thought that you only used castor plates for 6" and up lifts, and a 4" lift used correction bushes. Dont think over correction of castor would vibrate though, but im sure it would make it wonder.
Hows your uni joints?
mate of mine done a 4" lift and his uni joints died not long after.
Also what size tyres you running? big tyres kill your steering damper and you can get vibrations also from that.

caster bush's are use for 3" only 4" and up use's 5.5 deg caster plates I'm starting to think it might be the uni's in the rear tail shaft I have a part time kit fitted so its not the front shaft.

Are you sure, i dont know anyone that runs castor plates for there 4" lift. They all run castor bushes, even BBM`s cruiser with the 4" lift runs bushes not plates.jimbo jones wrote: caster bush's are use for 3" only 4" and up use's 5.5 deg caster plates

I have caster plates with a 4inch lift and if the BBM cruiser you are refering to is the one that did the Outback, it's had the front arms swapped to the top of the diff housing so it's not a real comparison.sniper wrote:Are you sure, i dont know anyone that runs castor plates for there 4" lift. check your driveshaft angles....if you shorten the top diff arms, it will increase the diff uni angle back to being equal. UIt will also straighten up the spriong perches...
Andrew
