hi people, would anyone be able to help on what is the min height you need to lift for 35s on a shorty and how big of spacer do you need in the cross member, but it would be nice to have good flex as well. and does anyone have some good pics of full tube gq bars

Ive got a 5" spring lift in my shorty with 35s and it still scrubs...gear box spacer, cant remember how much that was dropped.
Min. height could be 2 or 3" depending on how much you wish to chop the guards to avoid scrubbing

I was running 34x11.5 Simex ie 34.4" and that was with a 2" suspension lift and a 2" body lift. The front was fine but the rear use to rub on the inner guard, and short of massive wheel spacer or a 10" lift I don't know how yo can stop this. With a 2" lift there was no need for trans xmember spacers and I have an auto.

This gets asked an assload of times buddy, which is why everyone is saying search. I don't know why this isn't in the bible it gets asked and answered that much.

2" Sus + 2" Bdy lift will see 35's fitted to a shorty with minimal driveline problems created (missalignment of rear propshaft angle is easier to fix with this moderate amount of lift). This combination will perform really well offroad and onroad as well. Minor cutting of the rear gaurds will be needed as well and you may/may not need to fit spacers to the front of your radius arms. Anything more than 4" to fit 35's is overkill. Also remember with this size tyre, no matter how much lift, on full suspension cycling you will experience scrubbing in the inner rear wheel arches.

I wish I went with the above method as it would have saved me many headaches. I went with a 4" suspension lift and used a double cardinal joint/rotated rear housing etc ~ at the time I believed it was the best option, however there are alternate methods. Rather than using geabox spacers consider purchasing some raised engine mounts from cheezy racing, these will help (in conjunction with longer rear lower trailing arms) to correct the rear driveline misalignment problems associated with lifts of this height.

So basically when people say suspension lifts around 4" in a shorty will create an assortment of problems, listen to them - your wallet will thank you for it.

thanks guys for your input on this, also what sort of power output are yous guys getting with the turbo diesel, and what mods have you done to get it going good without turbo upgrades, i have played with fuel and boost up a fraction but just wondering if there is any other mods to help with getting them going good

I have mine tweaked to ~12psi with the fuel up a bit, lil bit of black smoke on take off, 2 1/2" exhaust. I don't know what sort of numbers it would be making but that is about as far as you can go before it is running lean at full boost without fuel pump mods. ~ $2k..
