What Timming For LPG.
What Timming For LPG.
Hi guys i have a SWB on Gas/petrol and need have been timing it to 10.
The car runs on gas 99% of the time it only ever runs on petrol to get to a servo or every 3 months or so we run it on petrol for a 20kms or so to lube the seals or something. I'm not sure if u are ment to time them more advance then 10 to run on gas?
If it's been on 10 what do u suggest remebering it's barlely ever driven on petrol unless needed.
Not sure if making the timming more advanced will make the car go better ???
Cheers guys

timing
up to 15degrees advance at idle makes it more spritely on gas but i found it pings its ass off on unleaded mind you the unleaded has probly been in the tank since christmas. I was told not to do this with the factory dizzy instead have a petronix electrical unit fitted with a specific LPG curve to suit.

Oh ok so with factory ignition and timming what do u think i should set it at?
I was thinking of getting that Petronix ignition with the flamethrower II at a later daye as i'm replacing the engine as we speak with another TB42 done 180,000KMS instead on the engine right now done 427,000KMS and never with a rebuild or anything
Does advaning the timming from 10 or higher make any performance increasement or anything like that?
And when you said when you run it on fuel it ping it's head off will thise cuase any damage to the engine or anything?
The only reason i'm is becuase maybe i could get this going a little bit better thought advancing the timmign a bit will make it go a bit better becuase when i ran it on fuel the other day it went better on fuel then gas thought this was werid or is this normal but like i said i never use fuel so why have it tunned to it rather have more HP with gas

what?
I dont really understand your post. Did you read it????
Sounds like you'd better off taking your car to a mechanic as advancing your timing if you dont know what detonation is will most likely see you finding another TB42.
If you are not sure leave it at 10 deg they run fine.

run ur timing a couple of degrease above factory timing with ur vacuum advance connected, also put some new spark plugs in but get non- resisted ones and gap them down to .8 to .9mm gap and get ur gas tuned and it should run sweet and this will help stop the chances of backfiring, just remember that u gas doesnt like to run more than 35 degrees total advance (thats including centralfugal advance)
