The ASCC is planned to run for 3 rounds in 2004. good news for the north.

I will be in townsville from 3rd october to the 6th. I will be checking out venues, saturday the 4th I will be at a venue in townsville to show video of the ASCC and answer any questions for competitors and spectators. those who wish to find out more should watch this thread for information on where I will be. Anyone interested in taging alongwith me to look at venues should contact me before the 2nd october.

thanks glen.

I know townsville is a long way from brisbane, but if we work together this can happen.

thanks guys. I lived in townsville for about a year and noticed no one took much notice of the area, I think once the spectators see this event they will return every time it's on. And thats the key for good events hard comp and lots of spectators to enjoy the action.

Australian 4wd Short Course Championship for townsville will run on some natural tracks as well the under lights section is man made, that is as if I find the right property to run this on.

the class entry will be uniform for the ASCC no mater where it is held.

Production. no diff locks or over shimed LSD
maximum 33" tyres
max 50mm body lift & 50mm spring or 100mm spring

Modified diff locks required
max 36.5" tyres as measured at 20psi
engines may be replaced.
suspension is free (no hyd or buggy leaf)

this is the quick guide for class entry.

The 4th of october I will be in townsville for an information meeting. competitor, sponsors and spectators are invited to attend, here you will get all the info on rules, vehicle mods, safety items and event structure.
after will invite you to have a drink at a club or pub somewhere in town.
sunday if I find an area I will set out a track in the way as a comp track. run you through it so you all know what your up for in 2004.

as soon as i have a venue for the meeting i will post up here, there will be infomation about this in 4wd shops in Mckay, cairns and areas to the west.

the ASCC is a very hard comp to run in for the first time, so if you can spare the time come along on the 4th for all the info, I will be running video as well.

I have been looking at different terrain around the area for such an event.

A spot worth a look is the back side of the Mt Stuart area. Near APEX drive or whatever it is called. A natural ampitheatre is there. Not sure who owns the land I am sure a lot of it is public.

Has gullys for climbs rock and enough slope to make some interesting tracks. Good access for the public and very close to facilities.

Any of you guys in Townsville want to meet either today or sunday to have a look at what I mean let us know here. I have had some experience helping set up the last Vic Winch Challenge ie track building etc.

Matt from Kowari has been a very busy boy, he is looking at a venue for the info day, so today we should have all the venues booked. the property will will hold the event on is close into townsville, we won;t settle on venue for the comp till I come up on the 4th but looks like this property will be the one.

I can't beleive how much support from the general communiity this event will recieve.we have offers of assistance from lots of people. I have some really good things planned for the comp in your area, but I can't say much till its all signed up.

next week I will print the laeflets for the info day and post them to matt at Kowari. about 2000 will do the job. so if can place some around the area contact matt next week

Hey Terra remember I am in it. Nah the place I am thinkin backs on to the pistol club the Military boundry is about 1000 - 2000 meters the other side of the pistol club.

I might ask at work though what is the go with use of Commonwealth land because years ago we use to have a round of the offroad championships down in Pucka.

The other place that would make an awesome offroad park is the old Holsworthy range Sydney problem is it is full of UXO's so might get a little exciting. Lobby now I reckon because it will never be used to build on too dangerous but the tracks are ace.

Well done to all who have posted a committment to helping out with this event. Any locals reading this post should do the same. To those who say that nothing like this ever happens up here, well here is your opportunity to see, and be involved in a spectacular 4wd event.

When you hear what Glen has to say when he gets here on the 4th, you will hear and see how proffesional, and very well planned this event will be. It will deffinetly excite, and encourage everyone to be envolved.

I will get in contact with you all when I get the leaflets, so we can start to get them distributed about the place, so give some thought to where we should target.

THE event shoul go ahead in Feb at this stage, but if you are moveing to brissie there will be 3 rounds at LMP also. the NSW event will also go ahead for 3 rounds. end of 2004 will see the top teams at one extra final event.

I have made a commitment to get this all happening in 2004.

Sure if someone can get me flyers prior to 6th Sept, I'll make sure all our competitors get one. Glen do you have anything we could distribute? Could probably get an expressions of interest at one of our driver briefings?
Glen, would you be interested in having 2 events in the North (1 Cairns, 1 Townsville) That'd be wayy cool for the 4 x 4 community up here!!
