G60 1977 model Dismantle or restore?

Post by ludacris »

We have an old 77 G60 that has fibre glass bonnet, guards, canopy and windscreen saround. Rest of the body is rusty. The vehicle is complete and original and in reasonable condition. Have not started motor but drivetrain is in good condition. Motor petrol 6 and is complete.

Thinking of parting out but the misses wants to restore.

What do you guys think.

This just failed to sell on ebay... you're in Brissie aren't you?

Grab this for $300 or less and between the two you'll have all the gear, rollbar, etc... and spares to spare.

You can even attempt what I think should be doable, and that is put the front-drive parts from your spare transfer case on the back, and have the ability to disconnect the rear driveshaft while keeping the front one connected, or vice versa... dig?

The only fibreglass panel that I'll be parting with is the canopy so if you're interested.... Feel free to make an offer.

Will also be parting with the Bullbar that I'm sure weighs a tonne! It freakin huge

A mate of mine sold his G60 with a galvanised chassis to salisbury wreckers. If the chassis is still there it would be a good base to restore yours.

Nah! We already have a comp truck.

If I have my own way, it will EVENTUALLY be a Show and Shine truck.

The G60's IMHO scrub up real nice.

Well, after much discussion and a few tantrums along the way... We (well, Cris anyway with my go ahead) have decided to part out the G60
We have another project that needs funding and well, basically if the G60 is gonna be done up - it's up to me to do it and I don't think that it's gonna happen with a newborn baby somehow. I have been told we'll get another 4by to take it's place though and a condition of the G60 being parted out was that I get to pick the color scheme of the new 4by we get.

I have a mate who got permision to go and do 2 weeks game fishing in Samoa on a good freind of ours charter boat.
The catch was his missus wanted a third kid she got pregnant he got a ticket.
Now we all know who wears the pants there

Oh all I hear is him complaining about the other two. (kids that is)

Now you all got me thinking that I should reneg on My and Cris' decision. Like I said though, with a newborn bub - nothing is going to get done to it by myself and Cris has refused to do anything to it AND I suppose that I don't blame him as his truck is keeping him more than busy.

Time will tell though whether it stays or goes as I havn't really advertised it or anything yet. ;) I might win after all :?
