Overdrive delay

Post by mrfisho »

I have a 98 100 series and the auto does not jump into overdrive when cold for about 4k's. Is this normal or am I looking at trouble soon :(
My wife says if I go fishing one more time she's leaving. I am sure gunna miss her.

G'day, the auto in your vehicle is working correctly. :)
The 80 and 100 series auto's will not select overdrive until the coolant temp reaches approx 55degrees (transmission fluid circulates through the radiator and a external cooler mounted behind the grill).
This is a factory setting and is mentioned in most workshop manuals.
Cheers, Don.
