I got 2x 420W Pioneer 6x9's
Pioneer 5800 Headdeck with ipod cable
Clarion 2way AMP (apparently pioneer make crap amps)
$438 from autobarn, to install all that and supply the amp and wires.
Does this seem like a good price?
And then later on Im getting a Pioneer 1000W Sub and another amp, to run the sup.
So the speakers and the sub have there own amp...

hmm, they will sound alot better driven from a good amp than a severly underated head-deck. a suitable amp would be a 2x100wrms or a bridges 4x50wrms.

Under the seat works great, thieving pricks couldn't get mine out as tya had to remove the seat to remove it , Is there room under your drivers seat???
I wholeheartedely agree with 4x4monkey too, Pioneer head units are a great investment.
I've only bothered changing gear over in three of my cars and I went with pioneer every time, can't fault there head units.(not a fan of their other products $$-value though)
My missus chose a JVC head deck and it is a pos, sounds great but hasn't got the adjustments that the pioneers do and the instructions on how to change the time are false too.
As said in another forum, have a crack yourself and Im sure we will all guide ya through.

Under the front seats is also a good place but fix em down and careful if you like taking the 4by for a swim.

Have a look at some show cars they get pretty clever locations, im a fan of attached to the rear of the middle row of seats down side being its very visible, on a pajero under the middle row is a lot of space to store and amp and keep it out of sight.

the pioneer 6 x 9's sound nice but have a nominal rating of 80wrms
your head unit puts out around 20wrms if your lucky
id cancel the amp and go a set of silver pioneer bullet splits

Synergy, as an ex installer if you have any concerns regarding the install talk to the store requesting that you be in the workshop while the job is carried out. This gives you the opportunity to have input into how it is done and you can see & question the quality of workmanship. This industry only recently has recognised training courses available for installers where as years ago most of them are self taught. If they bring up bullshit about no one being allowed in the workshop because of public liabilty insurance, challenge it. If still no success maybe look for another installer. In my experience I would never let an auto elec install car audio because it is not their bread & butter & they have very limited experience in doing it.

Im an Audio installer and all the crap you guys are going on with come on ..I will come to your work and watch over you working if you like ? I agree that price is to much .I see stuff install by people all the time and we get alot of stuff back from been wired up wrong!!! Look around for some one that will spend the time with you and show you what they plan to do ..As for Pioneer amps been better maybe you should look around ...
GQ_DREW, if a builder comes to your house to build a pergola you watch. If an appliance repairer comes to fix the fridge you watch. I think it is fair that when having modifications, improvements done to your vehicle that you should be able to watch. I did find it a pain in the butt when customers wanted to watch me work but it gives them a sense trust & confidence in your work & your conduct & may well bring a lot of repeat business your way.

It would be an ok setup... I would recommend running a big power cable, 2ga or minimum 4ga, then run a distribution block. This allows you to hook up the extra amp later without running more power cables. I'd run an 8ga from the block to the Clarion amp, then a 4ga to the Sub amp when you get it. Also, run an extra set of RCAs to make your life easier later on too.
With a 1000w sub you may need to look at a stiffening capacitor
I also beleive in not needing 6x9s with a sub, but it wont hurt. You can always install the bullet component 6" splits later on in the front They are awesome speakers, even when ran off the head unit.
I'm also a pioneer fan myself, except for subs. I have both cars fitted out with pioneer head unit and normal speakers, but different brand subs and amps. They sound really good.
It just depends if you confident in cutting holes for the speakers, and if you need to cut through metal or not, this can be difficult without the right gear.
Running the amp and installing the head unit is very straight forward.. just time consuming running the cable through the car.
If you get stuck, my local guys install a set of speakers for 60 bucks.. so if all else fails just get them to put them in for you.

Any speaker will sound lots better when ran from a quality amp... the head units only put out around 22wrms... which is quite small... considering these speakers can handle 80wrms.

thats a good point about the distribution block, i had one in my old car VN Calais and madelife alot easier when running 0 AWG through the car
still have one in my land cruiser incase i want to upgrade later on,im currently running a single 12" off amono block amp but is good to have there
