Hi all,
Are the G60 patrols springs able to be replaced with a short length spring like say from a hilux. Obviously I would have to move the hanger.
thanks
James

G60 Leafs
shorter leafs
Hi,
Thank you for the message.
Reason for my madness is to increase my approach angel.
If i fit short springs I have to move the hangers in closer. Obviously I moved move the back hanger forward on the front and the front hanger on the back backwards. I dont want to buy 42" tires, I want to run 36" tires.
Another way around this is getting customer srings made up with the locator hole moved slighty forward on the springs.. (i think the G60 springs have a locator hole - mental note to self .. look). Do you think that is possible.
Thanks James

Re: shorter leafs
In theory this can be done byG60MAN wrote: Reason for my madness is to increase my approach angel.
1- lower the height of the axle compared to the chassis
2- Put bigger wheels on
3- Move front axle forward
Sounds like your trying to remove the front spring hanger from the equation, But what about the chassis where the bumper bolts on ?
But by having shorter length springs wont you have less articulation. Mind you stock G60 springs are pretty flat anyway.G60MAN wrote: If i fit short springs I have to move the hangers in closer. Wouldn’t the locator hole need to be in the centre of the spring to obtain the most wheel travel !G60MAN wrote: Another way around this is getting customer springs made up with the locator hole moved slightly forward on the springs.. I think your best option is do a SOA conversion, or if you can change springs to a shorter length it may work. Good luck and let us know how you go !

short springs = less wheel travel
lots of spring lift = less wheel travel
go SoA and or shackle reversal. Cut off the frame rails at the spring hangers, with 36" tires you will have excellent appr./depart angles. If you shackle reverse it you can build some front sliders that go say from you winch bumper to spring hangers. Similar to what a Volovo C303 with portal axles has. Then you can simply slide the front end up anything to steep.
