100 Series Dobinson Coils

Post by dieseldude »

Has anyone had experience with the 4 inch lifted Dobinson Coils in their 100 series? I'm looking at getting some, because I ran 3.5 inch Dobinson's in my GQ Patrol. I was very happy with how they performed.

If you have run them.......... How high did it actually get lifted? Did you require new panhards and brake lines? Obviously castor correction would be required.

I'm interested to hear what your thoughts are.

Also, if you have any available............ Please post some pictures of your rig with these fitted.

Regards

Hi Dieseldude, I only have 2 inch lift Dobinson's on my 100 - been running them for about 8 weeks no issues other than a little noise up the back when I hit a bump.

I picked up over 3 inches of lift, mainly because the originals had done 200K KMS so were shot.

If you are in Brisbane get on to JOHNZ who is on this board he may be able to supply.

Cheers,
Fat.

I highly recomend JOHNZ for all your suspension needs. I got a kit from him a few weeks ago for my hungie, 3inch lift and its great. But i want to go higher all ready.

Johnz sent me kit from Brizy to Syd and it took under 2days to get to me.

I had that sme problem when i got a 2 inch lift with lovell coils

the problem was that the coils dont quite sit right on the rear axel and as you go over a bump (e.g speed bump)the coils would move causing a metalic clang every time you hit a bump

Cheers,

So is there any chance that you blokes might be able to post a picture or two of your rigs with the coils in them? That'd be greatly appreciated.

We have been using ridepro coils, and have longer front shcoks to suit 4" lift with ridepro valving as well now, and rear bump stop spacers and top brackets to run an extra long [740mm] rear shock to suit 4" lift.

The Dobinsons will give a true 4" of lift.

So with the Dobinson 4 inch coils........ what castor correction is on offer?

I'm not familiar with cruiser equipment yet. I've had Patrols in the past.

With the 4 inch dobinson coils, what issue will this have on vibrations from the front drive shaft given that it is constant four wheel drive?

Do you use castor plates for cruisers or drop boxes?

The 3inch dobinson coils which my GQ had were an 'honest' 3 inches. I was really happy with the stance of it. Now I've been told that dobinson don't make a 3 inch coil for 100 series cruisers. Are Lovells coils made by dobinson?
