To dual lock or not to dual lock, that is the question...

Post by slowhilux »

Ok, so i was goin to get just the rear locker done, and a rear bar with wheel carrier. But spoke to Luke (XXXL80) and he sort of has kinda convinced me to go the twins straight up, and save for the rear bar. Now, to me it sounds like a good idea, but the only major thing stopping me from doing i dont want to be busting CVs...

So i need some convincing on the subject!!

Not to assume which locker you are going to fit, but if you were going to fit ARB's I wouldn't worry about busting CV's just yet, as you have more control over your front locker, you will find you'll prob use the rear more anyway if you have both, and are worried about CVs. You will learn when to and when not to use them, according to your driving style and the terrain. IMO you will enjoy the driving experience more with the duals than just single.

I went dual lockers just to save on hassle on setting it all up. Get it all done once and be done with it.

Can't complain one bit either.

get twin lockers, lotsa right boot and lotsa Cv's. The whole CV thing does come down to the way you drive it (mostly) i can go out wheeling and not break any, but it is more fun when you are gettnig it.

CV breakages usually occur when...

Turning hard (on lock) with the locker in
Wheels are turning fast and one gets stopped suddenly (by a rock/log/etc)
Reversing with the locker in

So avoid those situations and you will be less likely to break them.

Double lockers are the go!!!! You won't regret it.
I agree with Ben. Don't abuse the front diff and you won't smash CV's. You can't turn with the front locker on anyway. Pick your line and point the vehicle where you want it then engage the front locker. Easy on the boot and drive it don't smash it.

Having one locker WITHOUT a second locker is like :

A pie WITHOUT sauce

Watching the footy WITHOUT beer

Wheeling WITHOUT carnage

Watching porn WITHOUT wood

Its possible, but why would ya
