Navara/ Pathy Towing capacity?

Post by Cruzer! »

Hi all, in the market for a new 4by for towing duties... I know your all saying "get a pootroll ya wanker"... but the missus hates the shape of the GQ, and i've had 6 cruisers before this car so i dont want to jump ship and get one either LOL, so.. she does like the navara and pathy, we've got a price range of up to 15, so looking through the trader probably looking at 97 - 01 models in both.. just wondering if anyone has towing capctity of both vehicles they can share, or your experiences in towing with these cars? or whether im wasting my time with these and should just get an 80. ;) unless someone wants to sell me a cheap GU :)
.. towing duties will include Horse float (2 horses), so maybe that will be 2t, and my suzuki, with car float so about 2.6 - 2.8 t.

Anyways, TIA,

Ben

the currant navara utes are rated for towing 3 ton and i can tell you they do it with ease. just watch your local towing laws etc.

we normally have 1 ton on the deck and tow 2.5 ton. towing 3 ton gets tricky over here as you need breakaway brakes etc.

new shape navaras are still around the 20k mark though. I've been watching then for a bit and the cheapest I've ever seen one was 18k on ebay without roadworthy :)

The previous model was non turbo 3.2 diesel

for towing specs, find the model you're after on drive.com.au and look at the
specs, shows you all sorts of stuff including towing capacity etc..

we have a 2001 model pathy, and its a slug well not so much a slug, but they HAVE to be restricted to hell, they couldnt be that bad..

I towed a trailer of sand from Burdetts to my joint only 4-5 klms tops and it wasnt bad, but would hate to see a big hill...
