94 fairlane power steering on fj45 with disc breaks?

Post by known 2 »

could the fairlanes sytem be modified to hook up to a sprung over fj45
easy enough or would it take some heavy mods.

? and has anyone cutom made a roof and rear panel for there ute with roll cage built in.

Is there any way to identify 60's diffs from 45's just by looking at them. because the truck i'm looking at buying apartently has disk brakes allround could these be 60's diffs modified or would they more likely be 80's diffs
cheers.

why not just go 60 series power steering? tried and tested

sounds like a rear disk conversion.

easy way to tell diffs is that the 60 series are 3 inches wider... apart from that, the brake line goes to the diff on the opposite side (from memory, drivers side for the 40, 60 series is pass side, but i might be backwards)

I ran falcon power hook on my 45 series, 20 + years ago, with 35's, and 3" lift, and it was great variable ratio 2.2 turns lock to lock.

used a roller bearing top plate from a bronco, and made a pitman arm to take toyota tie rod, and used classic rangie pump, and steering shaft to join to donut, as bolt pattern was the same, and I used the collapsible section, surface ground, to fit into the toyota column.

We also upped the pump pressure, and chnaged the steering box torsion bar, for better feel.
