why can't anybody read...... every post on any forum asking about ox ELECTRIC winches has the same crap, a whole lot of people giving their opinion on ox HYDRAULIC winches.
ppl, read what has been asked to avoid posting crap we don't want to know.

p.s. rockmutt, the hydraulic winches are very good if setup properly, obviously urs wasn't properly setup.

I have an OX 10,000lb electric winch in my GQ.
Unfortunately i have not had to use it yet so i cant tell you how fast or good/bad it is. I have run it under no load and it was ok but not quick.
I have pulled it appart to check the internals and they seemed ok but i cant say i know much on the topic. It says it has a 5hp motor so i assume that it pulls ok. The motor side is not sealed up at all so i ran a bead of sealant where the housing meets the drum and on the motor cap, but i was suprised to find that the gear box has a rubber o ring and was full of grease.

Seriously what i have seen of the ox winch both electric and Hydraulic are ok. having said that every winch is different and it depends on how you treat it.They will last foreva if you look after them.(sevice them often and give them a break when winching long hauls)

Had the 10,000lb on the LWB Paj . Used and abused a few times - never let me or the others who needed assistance down. Swapped from the steel to synthetic and that was fine (didnt give off to much heat). I'd have no issues in putting one back on. Only glitch i had was the cable in the remote came loose and had to figure that out and also blew a solnoid (my fault).
Would it suit your beast - dont see why not - but its not a quick winch by any means. But its faster than my current 8000lb warn low. Not sure if they are rebadged Tmax's (earlier post) or as i believed rebadged Milemarkers.
Do need to be serviced / greased (easy to do) and yeah a slurp ofsealant on the housing stops the water...

Personally I have only owned PTOs. Overheard TJM employee last week tell customer that the OX electric & t-max & several others all come from the same factory - built to buyers specs. Then pushed the Premier brand electric winch, claiming that it is the only one that is approved under ADRs as a lifting device ???? ( WTF would you try to hoist your truck up a tree - to change tranny oil ?? )

To be completely honest, if you are just going to use it for an insurance policy to help when you get stuck, then there really isn't too much of a difference. The 2 main differences are how many amps they draw and the type of braking system. For a tourer or a weekend wheeler it doesn't really matter too much as long as you get one that is rated to your vehicle and use it accordingly. If the price compares well with other brands then just buy it. Just make sure you prep the winch properly when you fit it and maintain it properly and you won't have any problems.
