Money's tight as usual, but i desperately need to change diff ratios from 4.1's to 4.6's to compensate for slugginess when running 35's.
As i cannot afford to do diffs and buy a set of 35" road tyres, i was thinking of getting some reduction gears for now and do the diffs later.
(1) which are better? Marks or rockhoppers? or other?
(2) What are pros and cons
(3) how much to fit - can you fit 'em yourself?

Rockhoppers or marks gears will only help when in 4WD Low, if you want something to give power back when on the road reduction gears aren't gunna help. thats just to clear that up
As for which is better, well both i have seen work perfectly, never heard of any problems from both brands. You can do it yourself if you have the tools and a pretty good knolage of pulling the old gears out and putting new ones in, it should be that simple
Pro's of reduction gears is a much slower downshill decent and more torque when going up hill. Auto's benifit emensly from reduction gears due to their limited engine braking.
Con's are that if you want to go a bit faster in 4WD low you will be reving the engine even harder. what you would normaly do in 2nd Low (speed wise) you many need 4th or 5th low with the reduction gears. If you are also looking for high range reduction for larger tyres they do nothing for High range.

AA's for Quitters
Some1 posted a price of drive in drive out for around 1550 which aint bad for the marks gears .
Both sets cost around the $1250 mark from memory.
I have both diff and reduction if it is a daily driver then diffs may be a better opton as with 35s they 4,6 where pretty good on there own but with 37s ya just need more.

i am going with Diff gears on my new GU.
gears will fix everything.
High range and low range, my rockhoppers are impressive in extreme conditions but my truck is useless in high range , on the road heading to the bush and offroad when i have to get out of low range.
i chose tranfer gears because my 4.5 GU has the large rear diff which wont exept guniune nissan crownwheel and pinions.
