2.8 GU with 4.88 C&P ?

Post by GUEEY »

A mate of mine has a 2.8 GU with standard 4.6s.
He also has rockhopper for low range work with his 35 Q78s.
He is now running 33 MTZs and is considering 4.88 to give him a bit more poke on the hwy for his daily driver 33s and his Q78s
Would 4.88s suit the requirements or would it be over geared when running the 33s.

We both have a mutual interest in this question, as i could by his 4.6s.

Cheers Grant.

My father also has a 2.8TD gu, and wehn we first started setting it up, we fitted the 4.88s, we only really drove it for about a week before we fitted 35's,

i cant really remember any dramas running the 4.88's and 33's for that week, it had a highway run and around town, i dont really think it would be too far fromt standard, as gu tyres i believe measre about 32" or there abouts,

Plus it may give ya a kick off a bit easier as the 2.8s are laggy. And also they are a revvy diesel so it should be fine i would think.
