insurance... who will insure me

Post by brad 93hilux »

Hi i am trying to find insurance for my hilux in nsw.
Basically most insurance companies either;
1) won't insure me because i'm under 25
2) won't insure me because hiluxes are like the #1 most stolen car
3) won't let me list all the accessories under the policy (eg difflock, turbo, snorkel, lift kit, expensive tyres, etc)

My question is what insurance companies is every one else listed with?
Also let me know if you have the modifications listed under the policy..

Any replies much appreciated

cheers :?

just car will insure you providing the mods are legal, engineered etc

they quoted me $12k replacement value ($800 premium) for my ute (cut down 4 door with some bits) and it's a cheaper premium than my swb patrol... go figure :?

BUT... If we do go with them I'll be paying a $800 excess, plus a $400 age excess plus another $400 "excessive mods" excess plus another $400 bullshit excess if its stolen or I dont get the other persons details!!!!

they do however cover me anywhere providing its on a marked map and they ok'd the rooftop maps, something i have in writing too! (got a feeling thats another excess they try to sting me for too)

$2k outa pocket if it gets flogged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ohh I'm 23 with a rating 1 no accidents yada yada

I don't think TCIS will do under 25. I was with Just Car Insurance so my under 25 yo brother was covered. I had a crap agreed value but when I had to claim, the process was pretty easy... points to them for that.

There was someone else covering modified 4wd's at the 4wd show. It may have been Allianz but I'm not sure

As mentioned above no one will insure you if your mods are not engineered. Like after market turbos, suspension higher than 50mm, body lifts, tyres higher than 15% over standard (I think it is) different seats etc.

If all this is engineered, blue sliped and approved by the RTA than you should start looking for insurance. ;)

If you already have that bit covered try GIO or AAMI is you havn't already. They will cover 4wds with mods but your age could be a problem. As a last resort you might have to organise insurance through a insurance broker. They sometimes work out cheaper anyway.

Hope this helps. :)

Cheers Mick.
