4.1 Ford Crossflow in a G60
Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone knows were you can get a some work done to 4.1L crossflow (pre 1984 leaded engine). Looking at getting it bored out 40 or 60thou and a crow cam stuck in it. However I am not a mechanic but I do know what a screwdriver looks like.
Or is there an easier way to get an addition 30% of power out of it.

mate has one in his xe. runs the alloy efi head. mild torgue cam. redline torquer manifold and a 350 2 barrel with extractors. its a 5 speed manual and will pull out sideways till redline in 3rd

efi from an xe xf shave the head bout 20 thou 30 thou oversize hypereutectics a 31 73 camtech cam (custom grind)
big valves big springs good collets and full balance you can trick the efi into thinking the air is cold and u can also tension the air flap spring to give it more fuel theres a heap of mods to do if done right u will get about 120 to 140 hp

my 250 in my Cortina is an XD block with an XF alloy head...runs 11.5:1 compression, Hypertec pistons, basically what you could call a towing cam (torquey), 4 bbl manifold with a 650double pumper..still running standard rockers but with upgraded valve springs obviously and made 218 rwhp on its only time on the dyno...
all for the grand total of $1200
the crossflow is a good choice for 4wds as it is a very torquey engine and will last forever as it makes all its power below 4500rpm so you dont have to flog the ring out of it...of course in burnout comps i have spun it to 7000 but it still kept going

Cant remember the teaam number. But it was on old Cruiser swb. Nice car workerd well except they had the airlines connected to the dizzy etc (which isnt a bad thing). But they had the compressor mounted on the floor. (Edit) Whoops they only had an AU 4lt motor.
It was the green landy (The HULK) that had the turbo falcon motor. I thought it was a BA XR6T motor, but could be wrong. It went well. They just had GPS problems and got lost.

It could be my turn to be wrong, but I thought the 4.1 crossflow was the older, pre-EA falcon ford straight six. This happens to be a five-speed too.
It should be possible to get the output shaft of the five-speed machined to slide into the G60 transfer case, replacing the stock G60 three-speed.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....
Firrst crossflow head motor was an Iron job, 1978. went to alloy about 82.
EA motor is OHC, but still crossflow.
Pretty sure the EA onwards motor has the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the earlier motors. ( could be wrong) but looks the same in my gregory's W/shop manuals.

the hulk's rocker cover was the ally silver colour with the cast round cornered rectangels in it, it also had a slight angle on front.... I'm pretty sure
I think this is the old push rod 4.1L cross flow.....
The newer ford 6's (EA, EB) have lines in the casting running front to back and also have a OHC stamp on them, well from what I can remember.

Cross hatched cast alloy rocker cover was on EFI XE and XF, the tin hats on all carbed up till XF, EA EB ED had lines cast in the cast alloy cover aswell as OHC, EF on are smooth cast alloy painted blue or red on the tickfords (XR6's) and was bare alloy on the AU non tickford

If you don't take this, I definitely will if the offer's still there - and I can pick it up here in Victoria. Its roughly 300x300x200 and would weigh,mmmmm <5 kilo with 2 shafts, gear and bit, you may require some basic machining for the spigot bearing, as i can't remember exactly whats there will have a look some time on the weekend or early next week, sorry chimpboy
