16B fuel pump

Post by jockrotten »

Im in the market for a fuel pump for a 16B, Im putting the motor in to a 1L
stockman.

Im going with an external pump but Ive just found this link thats thrown me.

I was just going to buy a pump off a skyline or VL commodore, I think they run at about 14psi. This thread says I have to run one thats capable of 45psi. Is this crap or are pumps rated differently or something?

heres the link

Was the surge tank from another car or just a 3rd party one ? I've got a pump going from tank to rail so am looking at adding a surge tank as well.

nah bought the surge tank off ebay for $100, i was told to use one as otherwise u motor may die in the arse up hills because it needs its constant pressure to keep it running, so i thought it was a wise investment, plus its polished and it looks quite pretty in my engine bay

You dont need to run a surge tank but IMO it is a good idea because it is hard to keep fuel to the suction side of the pump when cornering & off camber, especially when the tank is starting to get low. These EFI pumps do not like sucking air & it will kill them quicker.
