Dead GQ odometer
Dead GQ odometer
I zeroed the trip odometer this morning on my GQ after a fuel refill and it gave a bit of a click and now both the trip and normal odometers aren't working. The speedo works fine just the odometers are the problem.
I'm sure it's mechanical not electrical as when I pushed the zero button I thought that seems strange as soon as I pushed it.
Any ideas from anyone on what may have gone wrong and how to go about fixing it? Is there an easy way to get to the back of the speedo unit and what's the best way or removing the binnacle from the dash?
Regards Andrew.

When i had this problem Andrew, the trip meter/odo still worked, but trip meter couldnt be reset. This was due to the plastic fingers which press against the numbers breaking. If this happens, they can jam the numbers thus stripping the plastic gear which drives them. The whole thing is pretty easy to pull apart. You might be able to get another speedo (like i did) from a wrecker and swap over the trip meter and use the plastic gear from it in yours. The rule is, dont press too hard to reset the trip meter--if it wont reset, dont force it....

I ended up buying a 2nd hand one from Halls wreckers Johnno, it wasn't cheap around $80 from memory but it was annoying the hell out of me.GUJohnno wrote: I've inherited this problem.![]()
