Body Lift in NSW
Hey everyone,
I've done heaps of poking around and there is lots of hear say and different laws for different states concerning Body Lifts.
There is nothing available on the RTA site regarding this that I could find and just want to know once and for all.
Do all body lifts require an inspection of some kind?
Do they require an engineers report? If some do not, what's the size limit?
Or, are body lifts of any size Illegal in NSW? please not this one
I heard people talking about the new laws which have came in... What changes did these incur?
Thanks very much
Nick.

In NSW , ALL body lifts require an engineers report.
Most engineers are happy with a three inch body lift provided it's all done properly. Every area effected by the lift must be addressed. Total height is also an issue.
The proposed changes are still just that.
Airbagged cars are an issue- the engineer has to verify that the triggering sensors are not affected in any way. Disconnecting the airbags is not allowed.
BTW. Boat trailer rollers, rubber, skate board wheels and bits of crap found lying around are not acceptable as body lift blocks.

1. I was going to get a 3" lift engineered and the engineer had no problem with it at all.Patrolden wrote:egineers won't pass a 3" body lift..... 2" is ok... and the lift blocks must be minimum of 65mm diameter, and preferably high tensile bolts.
2. The 3" tall blocks were 50mm wide, again he had no drama with this.
3. Definately high tensile bolts, not preferably.
I guess it depends on the individual engineer and what he believes to be the best, after all its his signature.

I got the info from Athol Mullen in Newcastle who engineered mine and a lot of other 4WDs. I suppose it's how the individual interprets the ADR's.Gribble wrote:1. I actually got the impression they wouldn't engineer a 3" lift from this forum i think..... ages ago. Thats why i asked Athol when i got my 2" body lift engineered.
There is no "I" in Team, but there are 5 in Individual Brilliance
