Ah, so many previous posts, so little motivation to search for them.
s it the old sahpe (removable canopy) or the new shape? 89 was a changeover year. What size tyre do you want? what do you use it for? what motor is in it??
I've got an old shape with 33's. 2inch Body lift did the job. I know someone that fit 33's under a new shape with no lift, but since did a 2 inch body just to stop some scrubbing.
Don't forget to keep it as low as possible as it has "hilux centre of gravity"
Now I'll go digging...

And here's what he sentgday mate. I tried sending an email, but it bounced back.... ?
I always intended on posting them up on the forum, but
never got around to it.
The tyres fitted without the 2" body lift, but they did scrub bad,
and I didn't flex the truck at all without it. (The lift went on 2 days
later)
I've had the final set up (33's + 2" lift) out for a full day in the
bush, and only had one scrub on the inside guard, and that was when I
came down on the front right while having the wheel right hand down
(about half lock) Other than that i haven't had any probs, and I wouldn't
even call that much of a problem, if any at all. I'm yet to get it on a
ramp to really see how well they fit.
I wouldn't advise going any wider than 11.5's, and even then I'd see
if I could borrow someones to try them out first. I opted for the 10.5,
so I didn't have to worry about them fouling up later down the track,
when I started pushing the truck a bit further. However, that was only a
guess and hope that they would fit anyway, as plenty of people said
they wouldn't. But they fit nicely. so end result is all good!
The tyres themselves are sensational, The one day i had at watagans,
they never struggled, and I didn't get stuck once. Not a bad job as I
had the "Disadvantaged" IFS truck and the others were 2 80's (one with
the lot- lift, 33's etc) and a GU!
the only thing is that they don't look as chunky as the 12.5s, but as
far as traction goes, I don't think they suffer at all being skinnier.
My opinion is that most of the traction comes from the footing of the
tyre front to back, not the width side to side. And we also dropped them
down to around 20psi on that day at watto's....
Bit of a long story, but hope it helps, thats about all the info I
could think of. Now, just gotta find those pics....
Let me know how it goes!
Andy.
(there's on without lift, just 4 comparison.)
33's- no lift
33's + 2 inch Body lift

And then I sent this...
G'day Crunch,
Just got your message. Thanks for the info and the pics of your rig with the 33's - it looks tuff az.
Just a question for you if you could answer it for me - what engine and diff ratios do you run? Are the diff ratios stock?
I got stock 4.11 ratios in my diff and after fitting 265/75x16 BFG AT's, it is very noticeable when taking off the line that my power has been sapped by the larger diameter. I was thinking of changing to 4.55 ratios if and when I get the 33's but do not want to raise the revs too much in the name of fuel efficiency, as I travel heaps during the week.
As I see it, correct me if Im wrong, the 33's will sap abit more power off me rig, but once Im rolling on the freeway, the revs will drop abit more and aslong as the roads flat I should get even better economy, at the expense of gearing down for each and every hill I encounter.
And that was the last I heard of him. Who knows what he's doing now. Maybe 4wd-ing or somethingthe motor in mine is a 4y-c (2.4L carby) and the diff ratios are stock. Whatever they might be...
It's only a toy for me as I have a work ute that gets driven mid week.
Fuel economy is up the shit with the 33's, and it does feel a bit slower. The eceonomy was never really much good anyway, because its a gutless motor pulling a big truck, but the 33's haven't helped it at all. I'm looking to do a conversion soon though. Nothing fancy, just something injected, probably a 22r or something.
Haven't really answered anything, just confirmed it for you!
Also don't forget your speedo will be out with the bigger rubber too. Mines about 10k's slow (shows 100 when I'm doing 110)
Andy.

Anyway, hope that helps (And you're lucky I've got a bit of time at the moment!)
ah Crunch I would like to fit 33s under it is all I need to do is lift the body several inches. I have read that I can do this myself with aluminium blocks but the question is how many other things do I have to extend brake lines, fuel lines, steering shaft etc. I have wound up the torsion bars about 3/4 of the way.
It is a 04/89 4y-c N63 or 63N 4RUN87A

I got a body lift kit from maquarie 4x4 in Sydney, including the blocks and a steering extension. You shouldn't need to extend any brake lines or anything as I didn't and it has had no effect.
Also I fitted 33x10.5 not the standard 12.5's wide to make sure there was no scrubbage to the inner guards at the front when turning. I don't know if 12.5 will scrub, I went 10.5s just to make sure, and it really doesn't make much difference.
OK, so it's a YN-63 runner, exactly the same as mine. Y indicating the motor series, N indicating something, 6 is the code for the old shape (new shape are 10x) and 3 is so you know its IFS.
Also, I noticed you're on the coast... Check out www.centralcoastmodifiedcars.com - we now have a 4wd Division
And I have a whole bunch of 4runner parts for sale if you're interested.

Did my 94 runner last weekend. Cost me $40 for spacer material.
If I had bought the bolts instead of having them fall off the back of a truck they would have cost another $160.00 (I used grade 8 SCHS).
Wacked 33" claws under it and I still cant stop smiling. makes the runner look like a completely different truck.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MOD
If I knew how to post pics I would.
