wont go into gear
going into first when you slow down?
i dunno if this is common... but mine does it too...
so if you're in second and want to goto first, this is what you do.
1. push the clutch in
2. put the gear in nutural
3. let the clutch out
4. rev the engine till about 3000rpm?
5. whilst the revs are high push the clutch in
6. put her in first...
now going into reverse, sometimes it helps to pump the clutch...
ie whilst in nutural(that spelling doesnt look right :S) push the clutch in, let it out, in again then try put it in reverse...
if that doesnt work, rev car whilst in nutural (dont have the clutch in when you rev)

clutch might be worn, or clutch cable might be worn/stretched and not allowing for the clutch to dis-engage fully.
try adjusting the clutch cable.
when my clutch crapped itself, i couldn't select 1st or rev. but when driving, it was sorta ok.
put in 1st, clutch in, no brakes or hand brake on, start car, and see if it moves forward, even if its a slight little bit. try with gear in reverse too. make sure on flat ground. if it moves at all when you start the engine, the clutch is riding.
