i got dual front shocks on my 89 VIT and there is a strap which seems to stop the suspension over extending? why? there is only about 4-5inches of travel. would it still have std springs which may fall out if over extended?? should i disconect it and find out or will this be a bad idea?
i have no idea

Seeing as Vits have a single strut in the front who knows what you have. I have seen a pic of a Vit with dual shocks before but it is certainly not the norm. The limiting strap is more than likely there to prevent the CV's getting too an extreme angle on them.
