tight bolts/nuts....

Post by vanbox »

im sure plenty of people have done it, but im after an efficient way to undo the nuts on my patrols raduis arms (the chassis mount). i needed a 3/4 rattle gun for my trailing arms but sadly there is no room for a gun to get these nuts. wat methods have people used to take these off..

once they are off i have a 12mm spacer to go in. can some1 tell me what order to put the bushes and spacers. (there are 2 different size collars in the spacer, and two bushes).

thanks everyone

i used my snapon 1/2" rattle gun on mine or you could get a decent length breaker bar and undo it.

how did you get the rattle gun into the tiny space for the nuts on the back of the radius arms.

umm...if i could post pics here i would show you how much room there is, or lack of it. this is the nut that holds the radius arm onto the chassis i am trying to get to. the amount of room behind the nut is less than 15cm and only accesible from the side, so there is no room for my rattle gun to fit....unless there is such thing as a small version.

Spray some liquid (wd40 or lubricant) on it, let it sit for about 10mins, spray again (good coatings), and let sit for another 10mins, then use a K-bar (breaker bar) with a big length of pipe.

Usually works for me.

i got those off with a breaker bar and a mother bar on the end. took about 40 min per side. but mine is a pile of corrosion(mine car). use heaps of goop like inox or wd40. a body lift would help by giving you more room to undo the nut.

i guess it will be patience and a lot of strength involved. i have a body lift and lubricant.
hillbilly > will heat help? and i have a set of radius arm spacers but thanks for showing them. im just wandering in wat order to the 2 bushes and the two spacers go (eg: large dia. spacer, bush, chassis mount, small dia. spacer) if that makes sense :S

thanks again
