i have just finshed putting a complete 7" lift in my gq it was on 31" tyre before the lift but when i put the lift in i put a set 33" tyres on it and it death wobbles at 40 k's does anyone know what wrong

Have you tried driving it with your 31s on? If so does it still get the vibrations happening?
I'm just asking because when I first got my lift I got my 37s at the same time. I had real bag vibrations and I naturally thought it was something to do with my lift. I later found out it wasn't the lift it was poorly balanced tyres. I had them rebalanced by another tyre shop and they said the tyres where out to buggery.

extended brake lines
Rancho RS9000X shocks to suit
front arms with castor correction plates
it's a lwb the front tailshaft dose hit the gear box X member but i have take it out and it still does it and yes i have tryed it on the 31's and it still does it at 40 k's

Hmm, which side? Sometiems the passenger side spring is a bit weaker to balance the weight of the driver, I'm just wondering if the springs could be swapped. A bit of a long shot and a lot of work, but maybe worth checking out at least.tozook wrote:no i'm not driving on a corrugated dirt road mate

However, I don't think one spring sagging would in itself cause a lot of vibration anyway.
Or, could one side be sagging because the other side's spring isn't seated properly?
Anyway. You probably do need a wheel alignment, especially for the castor, but I think that could cause wandering, pulling to one side, etc, but not really vibration.

Universals in the rear tailshaft? If they've been in it for a while with little or no lift, they may now be binding with the extended angles they are forced to endure.
Did you swap the rear tail shaft around? Normally big lifts require the skinny end of the tailshaft to be at the gear box end to clear the chassis cross member.
Can you re-install the front tailshaft and remove the rear, lock the hubs and drive it in front wheel drive and see if this improves or removes the vibration?

is it under acceleration and thru the floor or is it thru the steering wheel? does it happen after you hit abump? Patrol shimmy is usually caused by worn components in the front end as in bushes,bearings etc.
If it is under acceleration it will be in the rear shaft/uni's or angle. also check that the front shaft isn't turn while you drive

You've lifted the thing 7" above standard and have corrected castor accordingly. All of your steering componentry would be at really really nasty angles, take a photo of it and post it up.
MY BET is on it being panhard/draglink miss-aligment issues (not to mention the nasty angle) due to the lift

mine used to shake badly at about 70kph and again at 95kph with a 4" lift, even with 5 degree castor plates, and all bushes ok. I put 6" dobinsons in it on the weekend..... doesn't shake at all now one thing to make sure of is that the front and back wheels are in the same track. My shakes improved a little when i moved the back end over 10mm to match the front.

My mate put a 7 inch kit in his GU ages ago and had the same problems , turns out the panhard on the front was the wrong one or something and was flogging around on the mount (wrong size ball joint shaft maybe)
GU ZD30#2 , 4 inch T/D lift, 33inch MT/Rs, 35 inch buckshots, sliders, snorkel, dents and scratches.Now with front locker and rockhoppers.......GO THE NISSAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rtc dampeners suck my dogs crap.dont buy one pal. make sure you are TRUELY alligned and balanced. Remember to cut a scollop out of gbox cross member before you try and flex front. what about the rear shaft , it must be mighty close to the connecting tube under rear shaft ? youd wana check all that out before..... just some of the dramas i had with 8" theres plenty more just dont have the time right now.
