HILUX DIFF CENTRE QUESTION (Urgent)

Post by OLD-13H »

I hope some one out there can help.

I need to know what the Torque setting is on the large bolt that holds the pinion Flange onto the Diff centre,

I had to change my flange and I was not told about the PRE-LOAD .
Now I need to know what the Torque setting is so I can bolt it up properly with out over tightening it.

The other issue is the diff is in the car and the pinion Flange is off; can this be fixed with out pulling the centre out??

There is a marking on the shaft and the nut, is it possible if I line this up it will give the correct Pre-Load that was set before I took the Flange Off?

Please any help will be appreciated; I need to get this car finished.
I'm sick of getting stuffed around by people.

What i normally do when removing pinion flanges is to centre punch the shaft and nut in line with each other or use paint pen , liquid paper etc.
Then do it back up with a rattle gun untill its almost back to the marks , then use a breaker bar to get it exactly back to where it started from.

had to do this about a month ago and going virtually on memory
old bearing and seal preload> 2 - 2.5 Nm
new> 1 - 1.3 Nm
flange nut> no more than 195Nm-- be sure not to exceed preload

I/d feel better if someone could confirm these figures but
