Slider bars ???
Was wondering does any body know of any one in sydney preferably in the Penrith area but not essential that makes what they call slider bars, like a side step but attaches to the chassis rails and comes out about the same as a set of side steps, we have been doing a bit more of the rough stuff lately and want to protect the sills etc as the alloy ones which were standard from toyota will crumple very easily if hit and are only bolted with brackets to the body itself, or am I better to get the ones from ARB that have the what they call brush bars that run down from the bullbar past the guard to a steel side step. Are these as strong as a steel slider and are they bolted to the chassis or the body. Excuse my ignorance on this issue as I know jack sh@t about steel and its strengh and welds etc. We were selling the old girl but other circumstances have put that on hold for a while now. Also thanks truckster for your time but sorry will have to give a miss this time. Regards Steve M
why not build your own. do a search on this site, theres plenty of do it your self slider idea's. those brush bars will stop bugger all. is it a 4 runner or what????

i believe the arb item u refer to is a combination of side steps that bolt firmly to the chassis of the vehicle in 3 places. the brush bars connect from the sidestep end at the front door and curve over the guard to connect to your arb bullbar. these are termed brushbars as their design aids in keeping overgrown foliage branches small shrubs away from the paint work.
in their general construction the arb product is very strong and i believ would suit your needs well. if however you dont have an arb bullbar but another brand they can modify the brushbars to suit. alternatively if you dont have a bull bar at all then the brushbars arent suitable.
having sidesteps custom made is not that much cheaper as the attachment to chassis process is rather detailed and its generally fiddly work. i made my own side steps that saved me alot of money and it was custom made to my requirements but it took most of the weekend at the time.
hope this helps.
cheers
ps: have see the oppositelock side steps get crushed flat on 2 vehicles with my own eyes so steer clear of them.
