HJ61 Alternator

Post by vSAHARAx »

anyone know the amp rating on a 12HT factory alternator? im having some issues with mine. I have a couple of options

A) I Have been given a price of $490 for a brand new 80 Amp (highest amp unit i can get with a vac pump on the back) unit with vac pump etc etc. is this a good price?

B) find an electric vac pump and then buy a big mofo alternator, problem is where do i find a electric vacum pump?

The alternator on a standard late 60 is 80 amp.

There is a 'leccy mob here in Townsville (Coolectrix ?) that offered me a 120 amp alternator that is identical to the original except for 15mm longer (deeper). Wouldnt fit the 6.2 due to lack of room.

A mate of mine fitted a GQ alternator with vac pump to his 2H cost him around $550 but its got a vac pump, 100amp and with minor mods to the bottom mounts fits pretty easily. You might be able to find one second hand but they are only on safari models or fitted from factory as an option I think. Have a look on this site http://www.aea.com.au/shopping/index.ht ... tachi.html and scroll down to this alternator ALT3110 Hitachi Alternator. There is 1mm difference in X which is the measurment vertically from the bottom bolt hole to the top bolt hole. 25mm difference in the Y which is the length of the bottom bolt hole along the alternator.

Cheers,

Paul
