Just after some current feedback on these, done the search thing and had a read, but things change with tyres so I'm wondering how people are finding them?
They'll be on a GU touring on outback roads.

i have had them on mine (GQ) for about 30 000 now Paul and they are going strong..have done about 7 tows with a loaded car trailer (2 tonne) to Sydney and back on them as well as a couple of trips to Fraser Island and heaps of offroad work as well....
they worked a treat at Fraser on the soft sand as well

Hmmmm... outback roads and STT's a few people have had issues with hard shale type gravel/gibber and damage.
Having said that I have to say there isn't really two many tyres which go well in those conditions - it's about the toughest test you can give a tyre.
They also had big problems with their ST's in those sorts of conditions, so much that they had to release a different tread compound the ST-C range.
For Cape York I'd say no problems with them, but for outback touring not so sure.

Mine went to Cape York last October, no problems anywhere. But I'm one of those pussies who reduces tyre pressures and travels slow over rough stuff, so a real man might have a different experience.
I'm off across the Simpson in two weeks, coming back via Innamincka. There's some rough roads out that way, so I might have more to report next month. Last time I was out at Innamincka I was on MT/Rs, and had no trouble.

MTR is 25% thicker in the sidewall, and tougher thean the STT, just come back from a desert trip, one car on STT's with 5 punctures and 2 destroyed tyres, 5 cars on MTR's with 4 punctures between them, one on MTZ's with 2 punctures, 2 on Pro comps with no punctures.
This is pretty much what we see in general, taking alot of vehicles away [270 odd in last 3 years] with BFG the exception, because we wont take BFG shod vehicles on outback trips any more, as they tend to destroy the tyres, with impact damage.

I have read in afew other forums the Goodyear MTRs have a fairly sort compound and tear and wear quite quickly. this is just what i have read no personal experiance, so dont take it as gospel. but everywhere i have read everyone has been extramly happy with the MTRs.
in the on of the recent 4wd monthly mags (may 06, i think) they tested the STTs and seamingly they are one of the strongest in the way of punctures.... just had a second look. its an infomercal sort of thing. so belive what you will

I dont like mud and do mostly daily driving and touring. Any recomendtions for tyres to suit these circumstances?

About 80% of the blokes I go 4wding with are running MT/Rs as well and a really happy with them. They stick like sh*t to a blanket on road (wet or dry) and are brillant on roads and sand.
There only real weak point is there not real good in mud but i'm not a fan of mud either so that doesn't bother me.
