Hello all,
While greasing my chassis on the weekend, I noticed that the welsh plug on the slip joint of the front driveshaft has popped out. It is located at the end of the shaft behind the universal joint. When I grease the slip joint, the grease comes out of the end of the shaft, not through the slip joint. I remember greasing this in the past and it being under quite a lot of pressure. I think that the welsh plug has popped out during rapid front suspension travel (shortening of the shaft) and then hydraulically pressing it out.
Is this common?
I have repaired it but what is to stop it happening again?
Cheers,
Glen.

Grease is virtually incompressible. Don't use so much that it oozes out. You need to retain some air in the slip joint. Just put a few 'pumps' in regularly - like once every two or three months.
