It depends on what you want out of it. I have a front mount I/C and it works for me. I use it for comps though and my revs rarely drop below 3000. It does have a bit of lag but you just need to drive the truck a little differently to get the most out of it. You'll have less lag in a top mount but in most cases won't be as effective because you don't get the airflow that you need over it. You can always go for a water/air intercooler but for ease and weight you can't go past an air/air intercooler. I've had both on the same truck and I wouldn't go back to water/air now. ;)

Measure up the area that you want to put your I/C and then just buy one to fit. You'll need to match it with the airflow you need and when you measure, make sure you allow for the piping or just cut holes under the lights. (I think). Have a chat to PWR in QLD. They are a bit more expensive than some of the crap that you can buy from china but at least you can find out what they recommend and use that info to get one for a price that you can afford. ;)

if you tune your truck properly after fitting an intercooler, you shouldn't get any noticable lag..... and the increase in performance is mind boggling  Have you done anything to the dump pipe on your turbo? that will make a big difference to how quickly it will spool up.

no haven't done anything to the dump pipe just running a 3" mandrel bent exhaust straight through no muffers. its 3 " straight from the turbo although the turbo is 2.5" i have had thoughts of getting a bigger turbo or getting my turbo machined out to put a bigger turbine in. the turbo now get a tiny bit of lag but not much it spools up at about 1000 revs now so it pretty good
