I grew up in Wollongong but lived in Syd for a while and am now in London.
That track is called the Spanish Steps and its probably the best little track ive done. It runs between Blackfellows Hand Trail and another dead end trail (with a view at the end) which sort of runs parallel to the north. Its over near the zig zag railway part of the mountains. I believe this track is now under lock and key, and can only be done as part of an organised trip with an affiliated 4wd club.
The track itself (if you start on the north side) starts with these steps, when you get to the bottom you cross a couple of bogholes and a creek with a log half way across, you then start the climb back out on a series of steep smooth slippery rock faces. As I said its only a relatively short track but is unreal!
You may want to ask others about the status of this track as current arrangements can change. This is my knowledge from last Oct.

I thought it was about time i posted a pic of my beasty.
It is an NA SWB
ARB air locker in the rear and the suspension has been wound right up so it sits reasonably level.
Plans are to fit the 2in body lift and the scrub bars once it is rego'd( hopefully this week) and also the flares so i can then get wider wheels and 33in tyres for it
The only thing i got to get for it is a compressor for the locker.
I am also building a roof console/shelf to house the mp3 stereo and the uhf to keep them nice and out of any harms way water wise.

You've got some pretty good travel at the rear there! I need new rear springs, and thinking about new shocks too. What have you got, and do you ever load it real hard? (Max GVM + more?)Noisey wrote:Taken at Appin on some goat trail that ended going nowhere.
Also found the obligitory flex/poser shot taken at Appin also.

Scott,
I generally don't load the back up real hard or if I do I try to keep it as forward as possible. Springs are pedders heavy duty which are surprisingly softer than I though they would be (4 years old) and shocks are 5 stage ranchos (love em - also about 4 years old).
There is more travel to be had in the back but I have been a bit too lazy lately to extend all the brake lines - I have the parts just not the time.
Rear swaybar - gone
Front swaybar - articulator (this helps the rear flex more than you would think)

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading
Which model Ranchos? Standard listing for Paj is only rated to 1" lift, so I'm guessing you went for something longer. Is there a post here somewhere which covers all this?Noisey wrote:shocks are 5 stage ranchos (love em - also about 4 years old).

At the moment I'm not sure if my flex is limited by shocks (OME) or handbrake cable. The driver's side tyre rubs on the inside of the wheel well, but the passenger side hasn't. I don't know if it's a bumpstop issue, or if I need an adjustable panhard to centre the diff again.
Thanks,
Scott
