Scoring a "challange" or drivers "test"

Post by BajanFeroza »

Hi all,

Our off-road club is trying to set up some "challanges" or drivers "test" to test the abilities of driver and vehical, we however have no idea what critera to use for scoring. We intend to use mug/swamo challanges, hills, travenes climbing over obsticals and am still looking for some ideas.

So HELP HELP HELP, we want to score bigf with this first one.

In our country the rules are;

time is measured in seconds

falling ball + 5 sec

falling pole + 10 sec

missing gates + 20 sec

dfriver out of car + 20 sec

wrong driving + 50 sec

help of third person +200sec

not fastened with seat belt disqualify

not to act upon instruction disqualify

i thought they usually use points. Start of with X many points for each course based on difficulty, minus points for multiple attempts, excessive wheelspin, hittin barriers, etc etc

I went to a buggy comp while back at LCMP, they did the scoring as simple as a golf scoring.. from memory, it was like.

Rear wheel handbrake -5
hitting or in contact of witch hats -15 point or something
moving some objects like rock, log or so, a few point off

That's all i can remember at the moment.

Hope this gives u some ideas ;)

over here in nz we have graded markers each course is out of 100 and the driver starts and is given the score of what ever marker he gets the center of the front wheel past ie if he gets through the first gate and stuffs up he mite get 80 but if he makes it to the 4th of 5 markers he may get 20 he gets 0 if he gets rite through the course with out hitting a marker etc the lower the score the better.
dont follow its going to hurt
