5.0L what adapter do i have?

Post by GRINCH »

mate has just brought a gq with a holden 5.0l vn motor in it.
the clitch needs replacing so we need to identify the adapter kit so we know what clutch, spigotbearing and trowout bearing to get. the adapter is a full replacment alloy bellhousing, ive been told that dellows are the only ones that do it this way, but that source wasnt very reliable. the motor also sits very close to the firewall, dizzy practicly in the tunnel.

You might have to crack it open and get the clutch bits out to be sure. Even if someone said, "yeah that'd be a dellows", I wouldn't be game to buy the replacement parts without having the ones that are in there already out for comparison.
This is not legal advice.

if its a replacement bellhousing then it should have its manufactures name cast into it somewhere ,climb under and have a look.

Rod Shop and Dellow are the only two I know of.

The spigot and throwout bearing will be same for both kits.(holden 10-10.5')
The spline count from the output shaft on the gearbox to your new clutch may be the tricky part

Should machine the flywheel before fitting new clutch.

X2 And while you are there, may as well get it fitted

mate you really need to pull out the clutch and get it matched up unless it has part numbers etc on it...

i run a rodshop bellhousing for example but have used my own clutch setup, not the one that is recomended in the kit.

check your stuff before you guess and buy the wrong gear.

pulled the clutch out its a dellows bellhousing. the clutch looks like a holden preassure plate and a nissan friction plate both of which have been ground down to fit, is the how there normaly done or is there a better way?
