The On All 4s 4wd Club are moving the Woodpecker this year to , River Rd Lower Portland opposite Dargle Ski Park, 25 minutes from Windsor, this new location is much larger and offers better viewing areas and parking 100m from the event , there will be camping avalable on Saturday night at Dargle Ski Park for people who are traveling from outside the Sydney metro area , 80 4wds from 20 clubs will be competing this year . Entry will be $10 per person and the day will get under way at 8 am.

woodpecker - that is a penalty based event and not timed correct?

so the aim is to get on the track and DRIVE IT no stopping no recovery :?:

The Woodpecker is a timed event you can winch or snatch but you lose points , it's a team event so two cars are on the track at once, there are no classes or tyre limits. There are prizes for the best 3 individual scores but the comp is mainly about the best teams and the clubs total score, each Club has 4 trucks entered.

I am teamed up with cheezy then the other 2 rigs in our team of 4 are an 80 series cut down to a ute with a 454 big block in it and I don`t know what the 4th rig is.

Woodpecker does have a clock ticking while you are competing but the time only comes into it if 2 4x4s finish on the same penalties. The way this event is run is you get 3 goes at an obstical if needed, if you don`t get it on your 3rd go you are OUT. The best way to do this event is to try and drive it the 1st time then if you can`t get it you have another go if you still can`t drive it then you basicly have to winch it or you are taking a big risk of not being able to drive it on your 3rd go and being OUT!!!!!!!!

There is NO tyre limit at this event. Its just one class for all.

There is prizes for 1st to 3rd for singles, teams of 2 and teams of 4.

Last year we got 3rd single and 3rd in the teams of 2 but nothing in team of 4.
