7"x5" H4 headlight inserts

Post by sudso »

My auto electrician tells me the Hella H4 inserts put out the best spread of light on high and low beam.

Another one he reckons is good is the Koito brand but hard to get in Australia now.

The reason I'm asking is that the IKI brand I have in my Rodeo put out absolute shit spread of light, maybe ok for a congested city but not in a town with few street lights so I need some decent inserts to replace mine.
I have spotties too but it's not polite to drive in the town limits with them blazing away and frying cats that cross the road.

Just after some opinions from anyone whose tried different inserts from the cars originals of this size and what ones you thought were best.

cheers, sudso

I dunno, sounds good to me!

Do you mean just the globe? Or complete reflector/lens assembly?

Im pretty sure what sudso is refering to are the semi-sealed beams, also found on hilux's i think? Toyota use Koito i believe.

I got 6x4" Koito's from burson auto spares for my 60 series. Didnt notice an improvement over the hella they replaced (it was blown) but then i really wasnt looking. If i cant see i just switch the spotties on >_<

ive got Narvas in the lux, and Hellas in the rodeo (well one in th rodeo.. the corner that got intimate with the roo)

Both run 130/100 bulbs, and the narvas IMHO are better than the hellas.... Esp when i got the Narvas for $99 a set with bulbs AND lenses, and the hella was $120 EACH

I have the CSGT 5x7 in my F Truck, and they are OK. Incedentally I have IPF 7" roung in my GQ, and don't rate them very high.

Has anyone tried those crystal reflector types the ricers are running? I had a set in my Mustang, but the are for Left Hand Drive, and had to come out for the RWC.
