since bundy axles are rare as hens teeth, has anybody else tried different combos that work? :roll:

Are hilux axles interchangeable ?

Yes they are different lengths.
The long and shorts add up to the same overall length as a Lux but they are different individual lengths and they vary as much as 15mm I think but it's too much to swap with Lux ones.
