Who's a good gearbox mechanic in Sydney?

Post by up2nogood »

Need someone who knows what they're doing for a mate's Pajero Io.

They've had a clown pull it apart for a bearing failure who has then charged $3,500 labour, plus 'parts' to replace the wrong bearing. $3,500 to replace one bearing. Nothing else.

Damn thing still is noisy and now leaks heaps of oil.

Anyone able to help?

Update:
They've dismantled it again and have now said that my mate can come and pick it up, as they can't fix it. Legends!

I would get in contact with the MVRIC and try to recoup as much money as possible first.

THEN I would take it to the Gearbox Factory or Truck Transmissions in Chipping Norton. They specialise in 4wd stuff.

The Car Dr in Sackville. Has done alot of work on mine for very reasonable prices. I've had two bearings in the Gbox changed by him for under 1000, how the hell did the other guy get to 3500  Is it an unusually difficult box or sumthing?

PM me if you want his number
