Wiring Driving Lights
Wiring Driving Lights
Hi All
Fitting some driving lights to my 92 Vit and wired in the usual way via the high beam and it didn't work, well it worked but it worked anytime I hit the switch not just when on high beam. So I did a search here and found diahgrams of both Neg and Pos switched systems. Here's the thread:

My question is: My kit came with a 2 pin switch, but in the diahgams it shows a 3 pin one, do I need the 3 pin one or will it work with a 2 pin....maybe I should just go and buy a 3 pin but am curious as to why 3 when in the past I used 2.

I was having trouble getting my lights wired until I rang a mate and he explained how to do it, so I can't be of much use.
I still recon the third pin is for illumination, but as I said I don't no what I'm talking about.
I started putting some on today, I'll see if I'm wrong when(if) I finish tomorrow.

All working: Thanks to Huggy
Run a wire from the high beam wire at headlight plug to the toggle switch, then from switch (2 pin) to pin 86 on relay, one from the low beam wire on the other side of headlight plug to the relay pin 85, power to pin 30 and pin 87 to driving lights.
I first used a 3 pin luminated switch and wired as above but when added earth to 3rd pin (marked on switch as earth) it blew a fuse, so now going with just the 2 pins connected and no lumination.
