a new intake manifold, intake piping, idle pulley setup, at least two mounts on the engine to mount the supercharger,a new crank shaft pully or modify existing one, belts etc....um im sure there is more,i looked at bolting a supercharger off a 1GGZE onto my 2.4L diesel.
so far i havent found a place to mount it that i am happy with.
cheers

I wonder if its possible to do this on a 2LT? Would the turbo have to be remove?dominic wrote:a new intake manifold, intake piping, idle pulley setup, at least two mounts on the engine to mount the supercharger,a new crank shaft pully or modify existing one, belts etc....um im sure there is more,i looked at bolting a supercharger off a 1GGZE onto my 2.4L diesel.

its off a celica and is belt driven fogot to take a photo when i was at me mates today. i think it should be pretty easy to find somehwere to bolt it on to. ill try find time and find somone down here that knows sumthing about em. with all that work it may not be worth putting it on if im gonna have to take it off again. ill see wat happens

most likly off a 1GGZE and not of a 4AGZE. it should work ok on a 2.8. watch the max revs for the supercharger tho.crack wrote:its off a celica
you could fit it to a 2lt, IF you can fit it under the bonnet somewhere! it would go great if you had an oversized turbo as well and run it sequential. making a bypass can be tricky. it ceratinly would fix the old "crawl off the line" surf problem

thats the supercharger off a 1GGZE toyota 2lt straight six.
it has an electric clutch on the front.
standard boost on the 1GGZE is around 7psi i think.
this unit displaces 1.4lts of air per min, hence the name 'SC14'
the 'SC12' came on the smaller corrola motor.
do a search on toymods.net and you shoudl find plenty of info on them
this is what i was thinking of putting on my 2L.
cheers

I have one of these blowers bolted to a 4.0ltr 3F running straight gas, i never had it dyno'd but it reved out twice as quick as without, the problems you are faced with is the pulley size on the unit itself versus your harmonic balancer size can make the blower spin to quick, thus causing it to pump some serious psi into your motor, when i did mine it was pushing air passed the rings and straight into the crank case. In turn this caused a new problem which was the old mechanical fuel pump was still installed but the forced air was being pushed through the small hole in the bottom of the pump and was pissing engine oil out of it. To rectify this while i hunted for different size pulleys (which aren't available) i made up a cover plate for the fuel pump mounting hole, and drilled a hole and welded a hose barb to it, then i ran some hose to the back of the car with breather on it, and by the time the oil got to the end of the hose occasionally you would get a bit of a mist out of it. Other problems you face are tuning air/fuel ratio, finding a generic belt to suit (length), mounting points, and ducting. You will also have a fair bit of induction noise which if its on a street car you will draw alot of attention to your vehicle (wanted/unwanted). This is just my 2c worth and i could go on for hours about other small pitfalls that you will strike, but on the other hand I'm all for modifying ya junk.

how much do these cost and how hard are they to get a hold of.
so evil, if it went alright on a 4 litre 3f how do you reckon it would go on a 4.2 diesel?? same sort of rev range. if you started to put too much boost in couldn't you create a bypass or blow off on the intake??
also with the pulley size, surely you could get one machined. i would have to anyway as mine runs a v belt

If ya pay any more than $300 bucks ya getting ripped, I only installed it on my engine as an interim thing until i bought my 1UZFE V8 so i wasn't intersted in spending much doo on it. the problem with the electromagnetic clutch setup on the front is, the magnet is the same internal dia as the inside of the cast pulley so to make it smaller you would have to remove the magnet and bolt straight to the shaft. The one i bought came with a multi grooved belt pulley, i then pulled a pulley of a a/c pump and then had to shim the back of it to suit, its a lot of stuffing about for something that is unpredictable and initialy unreliable. if your engine has already done a heap of k's you won't get full benefit of forced induction as with my motor the air passes straight passed the rings.
As far as ya 1hz is concerned i would recomend a turbo kit before i would supercharge but once again need to take a look at dollars and engine condition.![Cool ](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

With the over boost problem not to sure but some kind of BOV or adj boost controler should sort that drama out. I STRONGLY recomend not to use a v-belt as it will slip under pressure mate had one on 3.3l holden red motor decided to change the pully on the blower not the one on the crank, Nothing but slipping. Most likely you will have to run a pully that bolts to the front of your balancer see CRS as they have alot to do with these style of blowers. http://www.rodshop.com.aurockcrawler31 wrote:how much do these cost and how hard are they to get a hold of.

plenty of parts on the bench
great info guys cheers! my utes only done 220,oookm so fairly decent. to make it fit ill have to ditch the aircon (not a problem as i dont use it) but the problem at hand is the battery id hav to move it to allow the supercharger will fit.
rockcrawler my mate got his for $250 from a wreckers and had it reconditioned which cost him $80. i bought it off him for $300. you should be able to find them fairly easy at any wreckers as apparantly alot of people ditched them to go for a bigger super por turbocharger.
cheers

At the end of the day i've pulled my motor out and have installed the V8, so i'm not doing anything with my blower setup, its actually for sale on OL as a full setup, gas mixer seperate though! Just quickly though i never had slipping problems with mine as the belt was matched and i had a tensioner on the belt also, my contact area around the pulley was a little over 75% as the whole unit was adjustable when i mounted mine.
