SuperWinch part's ?

Post by amshaw »

Hi All,
I have been given a Super Winch by a mate who has no use for it. :) Ive been told they are Toyotas prefured winch if people want them....I think they are made in the state's.

No control box/solinode (spelling??) but everything else is there inc remote, cable and fairlaid etc.

It has a burnt out motor....does anybody know if you can still get part's for them?

Did a search but with not much luck....dont really want to take it to out local Auto Elec....as they call him Bull....as in "Charge's Like a Wild Bull".

Asked the wife to drop into a Elec motor rewinder and he said he cant work on it as its only 12v and wouldnt know where to start looking for bits etc.

Any idea's please ? Not planning to do anything with it for a while but Im bored right now

I'd try Toyota at a guess. They do sell the X9 Superwinches if they can"t help you with the parts they should at least be able to point you in the right direction. 4wd systems in Adelaide also sell the Superwinch they also may be able to help. looking on ebay they also have Superwinch electric motors listed for $150 US hope this is some help :?:

I reckon by the time you bought the solenoids, box and motor, and whatever else is missing - hand controller and socket, leads, etc. you'd be better off just buying another cheap low-mount and either using it, or parting it for your X9

Supewinches are made in the EU, well the one we have is, it was made in Hungary me thinks, or somewhere like that. If its burnt out, don't bother, best to get another as they can be got cheap, Paid 400 for one that had never been used. Only problem so far was a crook earth that caused it to earth through the reverse brushes slighhtly melting the brush holder. They seem well built with big winding that look indistructable.

Are u sure is is burnt out and not suffering from brush failure?
Nice gq swb ute chop with a huffer for the good times

All I know is an Auto Elec had a look and said "Yep its Burnt out for sure"...so make of that what you will?? :? Also I did have a quick look and there look like some white plastic bits have burnt and melted.....may be the brush holders you are talking about ?

Is it easy to post pics here? If so I can take a pic if it helps :)

I will try other furums "Wanted" section as maybe someone has one sitting in the shed.....or I will try and get to the next swap meet in Ballarat and Bendigo....Arrrr love the old swap meet !

i got my superwinch rebuilt by powauto in dandenong. they sourced a new motor for it quite easily but i can't remember how much i paid. probably too much. you could buy a cheapy and keep all the eletrical gear off it.

All you need is a solonoid which is the control for the winch and to rewire the solinoid up. You can get a good one or a cheapie set.
