hilux 2" suspension lift - live axel front

Post by NISMOgemini »

looking to replace my stock springs with a 2" lift kit. dont really wanna spend to much.. iv seen quite a few kits such as IRONMAN etc.. for around $700 - $900ish for a full kit (shocks, springs, bushes etc). are these even worth buying?

my hilux currently has a 2" body lift.. will the additional 2" in suspension still be legal in QLD?

http://www.ironmansuspension.com/

thanks

PS: its a late 1989 single cable.. live axels front and rear, 2.4 petrol

EDIT: or does anyone have any other reccomendations for somethign under 1000$

Yes,

Buy some second hand IFS rears, max of $100. Make some shackles, $30 worth of steel. Fit them up with some longer shocks, $100 each will get you adequate ones.

Dont throw out your rears yet. Move them up to the front axle and make some shackles for the front $30 steel again, but making the front ones are a touch more complex. Get some slightly longer shocks, not super long ones (or you will need x-over) again $100 each.

You will get a much softer ride and be able to run 33's without a body lift.

$130 each for OME Dakar springs... ive got HD on the front of mine and MD on the rears, and i am VERY happy with them...

Another $140 each for the shocks- im running shitty cheap monroes atm while i save up for new shockies.. but even with them the rides infinately improved! :D

Yeah I was looking into this and apparently in VIC you aren't allowed extended shackles according to VicRoads.

You can check this on there web site
