Revs dip when clutch closed

Greetings all

When running with the clutch in on my 1.3L Sierra, if I quickly let out the clutch the revs drop by around 200rpm then recover 100rpm to stay around 100rpm below what it was with the clutch in. This is not normal for other manual vehicles that I have driven.

Is this normal for Sierras (maybe because the motor is so small) or could there be something wrong with a bearing or something with the clutch or gearbox causing some slight resistance against the motor?

As long as there is no noise associated with it I wouldn't be to concerned. Sounds like it is just the initial load required to spin up the gearbox main shaft, (hence the 200 rpm drop) and once spinning recovers by 100 rev's.
Can't imagine it would take much to slow a 1.3.

I think its using too much petrol so I figure some sort of extra resistance in the gearbox could be the cause. Does anyone else's Sierra do the same?

mine drops a bit .. do you mean in neutral?
mine is quiet as when the clutch is held in.. then when i drop it (in neutral) it lowers a bit also.. i figure its normal :D

its normal , and the thicker the oil in your gear box the more it will pull it down as the gears are still spinning in the box just not engaged with the right gears to give motion .
if its worth doing do it intensly , better still do it with MADPASSION
